From June 12-14, 2024, the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) convened the second project steering committee meeting at the Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency of Central Africa (CEREEAC) in Luanda, Angola. This gathering, the second of the CEREEAC's Governing Bodies, aimed to propel the region's renewable energy initiatives forward.

On 10 March 2023 the new Central African Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CEREEAC) was launched in Luanda, Angola. The high-level ceremony featured opening remarks of Mr. Joâo Baptista Borges, Minister in charge of Energy and Water of the Republic of Angola, H.E. Ambassador Gilberto Da Piedade Verissimo, President of the Commission of ECCAS, H.E. Ms. Romana Königsbrun, Austrian Ambassador in Pretoria and Mr. Tareq Emtairah, Director on Energy at the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

The 6th and most recent steering committee was held over a three-day period, from the 6th to the 8th of November 2023, at the Vienna International Centre in Austria. Unlike previous additions, this year formally marked the arrival of the CEREEAC into the proceedings of the event. In these sessions CEREEAC was represented by the Head of the Start-Up Unit, Jean-Pierre Ndoutoum, and Technical Expert Izaiah Mulenga.
